Picking the wrong horsepower is the most common mistake new mill owners make. Too small, and the motor strains under daily use. Too large, and you're paying for power you'll never use.
Start with your daily volume
If you're grinding under 20kg an hour, a 1HP or 2HP unit is usually enough. Larger commercial operations move into the 5HP to 20HP range.
Consider growth
It's often worth sizing one step above your current need if you expect demand to grow within the next year.
